How edited: the pieces up on the internet that are easy to find are all heavily edited by storycorps and “radio length” generally under a minute. What does that say about bias and editing? You know they just go in and extract the most poerful tear-jerking moments
Radio diaries is inherently exploitative-giving someone 18 to 20 hours of audio to make something with eventually yield a biased product, editing down to something manageble. It’s neceassary to edit them, but there is always bias (like what Kuebler said about cuts in history)
Radiodiaries is dfferent than storycorp in that the length of time that passes with the machine makes it so that the radiodiary becomes something more personal, after being with it for a good amount of time, people eventually start opening up to the recording machine.
